CAHA Festival

CAHA Festival - March

The 2023 CAHA Festival will take place at the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, NC on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.  There will be several events taking place during the 2 days of the Festival.  Please register separately for each event.

Saturday 3/25

Competitive Contact & Body Checking Clinic 1

(max registration - 40)

  • this clinic will be taught by experienced USA Hockey coaches and the CAHA Coach-in-Chief.
  • The clinic will begin with off-ice that requires full gear (including mouthguard) except skates.  Safety is our primary concern so players will be divided by age and size.
  • Birth years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 will learn how to use competitive contact (NOT body checking) to protect the puck and angle players off the puck to gain possession.
  • They will also learn to get comfortable with contact.  Birth years 2008, 2009, 2010 will learn how to use body checking to gain possession of the puck and to use techniques to protect themselves from an opponent's body check.

10:40 am - check-in begins

11:40 am - off-ice training (full equipment except skates)

12:30-1:30pm on-ice training

The Registration "CAHA Festival" is not currently available.


Competitive Contact & Body Checking Clinic 2

(max registration - 40). Players do not need to take Clinic 1 to participate.  Those that take both clinics, will see different situations so they get more experience.

  • This clinic will be taught by experienced USA Hockey coaches and the CAHA Coach-in-Chief.
  • The clinic will begin with off-ice that requires full gear (including mouthguard) except skates.
  • Safety is our primary concern so players will be divided by age and size.
  • Birth years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 will learn how to use competitive contact (NOT body checking) to protect the puck and angle players off the puck to gain possession.  They will also learn to get comfortable with contact
  • Birth years 2008, 2009, 2010 will learn how to use body checking to gain possession of the puck and to use techniques to protect themselves from an opponent's body check.

2:00pm - off-ice training (full equipment except skates)

2:50-3:50pm on-ice training

Goalie Coach Development Clinic

(max registration - 20)

  • This off-ice AND on-ice clinic is designed for coaches who want to learn more about goaltending either as a goalie coach or as a coach who has a goalie on their team.
  • Led by CAHA Goalie Development Coordinator Brian Haaland, the clinic will provide the principles of goaltending development, practice plan ideas, what key skills should be developed at what age, and more.

12:30pm - off-ice clinic

1:40-2:40pm on-ice training - coaches will use their skills to develop goalies in a station-based practice environment.

Goalie Clinic 1

(max registration - 30)

This is designed for all goalies at any level in birth years 2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-2016

This clinic will be led by CAHA Goalie Development Coordinator Brian Haaland along with experienced USA Hockey goalie coaches.

1:40pm - 2:40pm - Goalie Clinic 1

3-3:40pm - Off-Ice for goalie clinic 1

Goalie Clinic 2

(max registration - 30)

This is designed for all goalies at any level in birth years 2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-2016 (goalies can benefit from signing up for both session as different situations will be used in each clinic.

This clinic will be led by CAHA Goalie Development Coordinator Brian Haaland along with experienced USA Hockey goalie coaches.

3-3:40pm - Off-Ice for goalie clinic 2

4pm-5pm Goalie Clinic 2

Sunday 3/26

10U Half-Ice Jamboree

(max registration - 50)

  • teams will be made up in a scramble format and players will have fun playing half-ice games in a 4v4 and 5v5 format.

  • All players receive a free "We Honor The Game Here" jersey and refreshments.

8:30am - check-in begins

9:30am -11:00am - 10U Jamboree

11-11:30am - refreshments

8U Cross-ice Jamboree

(max registration - 80)

Teams will be made up in a scramble format and players will have fun playing cross-ice games in a 4v4 format.  All players receive a free "We Honor The Game Here" jersey and refreshments.

10:15am - check-in begins

11:10am-1:40pm - 8U Jamboree

1:45-2:15pm - refreshments
